Pith helmets conjure up thoughts of old movies where explorers were whacking their way through African or Indian jungles in search of big game or hidden treasure. The pith style helmets were developed by European colonialists as a perfect defense against rain and sun in the more remote expanses of the world. The original hats were made from pith, or cork, of certain trees. Our version is made from Japanese "Toyo" in the traditional pith helmet shape.
